"Its gotta be the shoes!" State Masters TT Championship Race Report
First ride on the new Specialized Transition carbon fiber TT frame (my old one went to a fellow CRC rider, which is cool). I was a bit worried, as the new position is super aggressive and I had no real time on the bike before I had to “grip it and rip it” in the State Masters TT Championship. But my form was good, so I felt I had a chance to ride well.
First impressions of the bike from the warm up- its really really fast. My legs felt ok too, so I was looking forward to a good run. Instead I had a great run. I probably rode the best TT I have ever done, ripping the 23 mile course in 51:07, which is probably a full two minutes better then my last time. In fact, Ruth told me I beat a rider I thought I would never beat- ever.
The official results are not up yet, so not sure where I ended up overall, but I am very happy with my ride. Of course, I am already plotting how to save a few more seconds to get sub-51 on that course. . .
BTW- I saw more Zipp 1080 front wheels in the Masters race alone then CSC had on their Team Truck. Amazing. Of course I want one too.
